With over 20 years experience of repointing both commercial and residential properties, Hargreaves Repointing services specialise in the repointing of brick and stone using lime and cement mortars. I have worked on many residential properties as well as the repointing of mills, Grade 2 listed properties, barn conversions and halls.
Many people do not realise how important the repointing of a property is. Not only does it keep the property weather-tight, it also prevents the infestation of insects such as bees and wasps.
Repointing is a skill which very few people specialise in. Old mortar from stone and brick work must be ground out to a sufficient depth before new mortar is reintroduced. Properties are fully washed down prior to being repointed.

Pointed using a lime mortar.
A stone built former farm with all the old cement mortar removed and replaced using a lime mortar.

This is a brick semi with the old weatherd mortar ground back and re-pointed.

This is how not to point a house. We were called in to try and rectify this mess. Needless to say we managed to do it.
Lovely ornate red brick house.
This is a brick built house with lovely different colours. A tricky little number with narrow joints. The difference between this one and the ajoining house can clearly be seen.
